Hello there.
I’m Darla, a sculptor living and working in Philadelphia. I make primarily animal sculpture that is meant to represent human emotion in some way or another. Most of it walks the line between cute and dark…like little animals in party hats gathered around a dead mother deer. I also love to create installations with my work, transforming spaces and placing my animals throughout. I’m working on some new things so I expect to post about the progress here. So glad to have been asked to be a part of the group and am looking forward to learning more about everyone’s work!

Good to have you here Darla. Interesting picture, my first thought is, how do you get that much clay off that board? or don’t you?
Hi Chad! I am a mold maker so I sculpt in clay first, then make a polyurethane rubber mold with a plaster mother mold. I then remove the mold and cast the final piece in plaster or resin. Will post some photos soon!
Hi Darla! This looks intriguing. Please do post more photos of the progress. I would love to get a glimpse into the process of this type of work.
Thanks so much Emily! Will share more process photos in the future!
I am mesmerized
More please ; )
